Diasporic Italy

Diasporic Italy is a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal devoted to the Italian American / Diaspora, focusing on timely and varied approaches to criticism and analysis of the field by presenting new perspectives and research on transnational issues. Published by the University of Illinois Press, it is the official publication of the Italian American Studies Association, replacing the annual Conference Proceedings. 

Interdisciplinary in nature, Diasporic Italy publishes in all aspects of the arts, humanities, social sciences, and cultural studies, and is particularly interested in comparative studies, pedagogy, and translation. Additionally, the journal encourages submissions on movement to, from, and within Italy conceptualizing all aspects of the diaspora including inter-coloniality and post(-)colonialism.

Diaspora, Indigenous, and Minority Education

Diaspora, Indigenous, and Minority Education: Studies of Migration, Integration, Equity, and Cultural Survival (DIME)—a quarterly peer-reviewed journal focused on critical discourse and research in diaspora, indigenous, and minority education—is dedicated to researching cultural sustainability in a world increasingly consolidating under national, transnational, and global organizations. It aims to draw attention to, and learn from, the many initiatives being conducted around the globe in support of diaspora, indigenous, and minority education, which might otherwise go unnoticed.

International Migration Review

The International Migration Review (IMR) is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal created to encourage and facilitate the study of all aspects of international migration. Established in 1964, IMR is widely regarded as the leading scholarly journal in the field of international migration, ethnic group relations and refugee movements.

Italian American Review

The Italian American Review (IAR), a bi-annual, peer-reviewed journal of the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, publishes scholarly articles about the history and culture of Italian Americans, as well as other aspects of the Italian diaspora. The IAR does not publish or review literary criticism or creative work such as poetry, fiction, or memoir, and the IAR does not review creative work or literary criticism.

Italica

Italica features original scholarly articles on all aspects of Italian language, literature, and culture as well as studies on language pedagogy. Interdisciplinary and comparative studies related to Italian literary and intellectual culture are also accepted. The journal serves members of the American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI) and other readers interested in things Italian through the publication of reviews, announcements, and bibliographies. Its "Bibliography of Italian Studies in America" includes books, articles, and reviews published by scholars residing in North America. Since 1983, the frequency of the rubric has been semi-annual, now providing over fifty pages of print content.

Italian Americana

Italian Americana is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to exploring the Italian emigrant/immigrant experience through both scholarly and creative works. Its mission has remained consistent since its original founding — to publish scholarly and creative works that explore the topic of Italian Americanness from a wide variety of perspectives. Italian Americana today maintains its long tradition of printing innovative articles by historians, social scientists, literary critics, and visual artists, among others, as well as presenting original works of fiction, poetry, and memoir.

Italian Culture

Italian Culture is the official publication of the American Association for Italian Studies and is currently housed at the University of Minnesota and Cornell University. Its interdisciplinary scope reflects the broad and diverse interests of the Association's members, offering subscribers scholarly articles on Italian linguistics, history, literature, cinema, politics, philosophy, folklore, popular culture and migration as well as on Italy's influence on other cultures. The journal also features articles on comparative literature and cultural studies.

Italian Studies

Publishes research on Italian studies, including Italy's literacy and linguistics, culture, history, politics, film, art, gender, and cultural studies.

JAm It! Journal of American Studies in Italy

An annual open-access and peer-reviewed journal publishing academic articles, book reviews, and interviews that favor innovative methodologies and contributions. JAm It! is open to a wide range of critical approaches to American Studies. The critical debates featured in JAm It! cover (but are not limited to) the fields of literature, cultural studies, history, linguistics, political science, and pedagogy. We encourage transdisciplinary and trans-hemispheric approaches and are especially eager to publish contributions that put European and non-European approaches to the study of North American culture, aesthetics, history, and politics in conversation.

Journal of American Ethnic History

The Journal of American Ethnic History (JAEH) addresses various aspects of North American immigration history and American ethnic history, including background of emigration, ethnic and racial groups, Native Americans, race and ethnic relations, immigration policies, and the processes of incorporation, integration, and acculturation.

Journal of Modern Italian Studies

Journal of Modern Italian Studies publishes research on modern and contemporary Italy, focusing on political, economic, cultural and social history of Italy.

The Italianist

A leading journal publishing research on Italian Studies including medieval philology, modern critical theory, history of art, cinema and economics.

VIA: Voices in Italian Americana

Voices in Italian Americana is a semiannual literary and cultural review devoted to the dissemination of information concerning the contributions of and about Italian Americans to the cultural and art worlds of North America. Each issue is divided into three major sections: creative works, essays, and reviews. The journal is available in print only.
